Sleepmaxing is a Shopify app for sleep-product merchants that combines a personalized quiz with an automatic bundle discount. Customers answer five questions — sleep position, temperature preference, noise sensitivity, whether they share a bed, and their biggest sleep problem. The quiz uses those answers to recommend matching products from the merchant's store, tagged with Sleepmaxing-specific product tags.

When customers add the recommended products to their cart, a Shopify Function fires in real time and applies a percentage discount automatically at checkout — without a coupon code. Shopify Functions is a compute layer that runs custom logic inside Shopify's own checkout infrastructure, rather than as a third-party script. Sleepmaxing's discount logic runs as a Shopify Function: it checks the cart at the point of checkout, identifies products tagged with Sleepmaxing-specific tags, and fires a percentage discount when the minimum qualifying product count is reached.

Because the function runs server-side within Shopify's checkout, it is more reliable than discount apps that use draft orders or coupon code injection. The discount shows on the checkout page before the customer completes payment, and it works regardless of which Shopify theme or checkout customization the merchant uses.

Merchants set the discount configuration in the Sleepmaxing admin — embedded directly in the Shopify admin sidebar — and can change the percentage or minimum quantity at any time without reinstalling the app.
