In one line: The nine best free Shopify tools for 2026 are the Shopify Store Audit for an overall health read, the AI Shopping Readiness Checker to see if ChatGPT and other AI assistants can recommend your products, the Google Merchant Center Checker to catch suspension risk, the Checkout Deadline Checker for the 2026 checkout migration, the Stocky Export Converter to rescue your Stocky data, the Product CSV Checker to catch an import that would delete variants, the Stockout Cost Calculator, the Days of Stock Calculator, and the AI Detector for product copy. All nine are free, need no signup, and store nothing you enter.
Why these nine? Each one does a job a Shopify store actually needs and would otherwise pay an app or an agency for, and each returns a real answer with no account and no card. Nothing here is a demo that upsells you before it shows the result.
The short version
- Shopify Store Audit gives you a speed, SEO, mobile and conversion read on any storefront, with each finding split into a measured fact and a suggestion.
- AI Shopping Readiness Checker shows whether AI shopping assistants can read and recommend a product page, and hands you the exact schema to paste if they can't.
- Google Merchant Center Checker catches the product-page problems that get a Shopify store's free listings and Shopping ads suspended.
- Checkout Deadline Checker tells you what legacy checkout and tracking a store still has before the 2026 checkout extensibility deadline locks it out.
- Stocky Export Converter turns a Stocky export into a Shopify-ready file so your suppliers, costs and purchase orders survive the shutdown.
- Product CSV Checker flags the one CSV mistake that makes Shopify silently delete your product variants, before you import.
- Stockout Cost Calculator puts a real dollar figure on going out of stock, beyond just the lost sale.
- Days of Stock Calculator tells you how many days of stock you have left and the date to reorder by.
- AI Detector scores how much your product copy reads like generic AI writing, entirely in your browser.
Most "best free Shopify tools" lists are padded with things that are not really free. You click through and the result is behind an email wall, or a signup, or a trial that needs a card. The nine tools here are the opposite of that. Every one gives you the answer on the spot, with no account, and most of them never send your data anywhere at all because they run inside your browser. I built them, under the name Extensions Market, as the free front door to the Shopify apps I make, so I have a reason to keep them free and useful rather than to use them as bait for a mailing list.
They fall into three groups. Some scan a live page and tell you what is wrong with it. Some take a file or a set of numbers and check or convert it. And a couple are plain calculators that turn inventory math into a dollar figure or a date. Below is each one: what it does, when to reach for it, and the honest limits of what a free tool can see. You never have to install anything to use any of them.
| Free tool | Use it when | What you'd otherwise pay for |
|---|---|---|
| Shopify Store Audit | You want a full health read on a storefront | An audit app or an agency review |
| AI Shopping Readiness Checker | You want AI assistants to recommend your products | An AI-visibility service with an email gate |
| Merchant Center Checker | Your free listings or Shopping ads risk suspension | A feed or GMC diagnostics app |
| Checkout Deadline Checker | You are unsure if your checkout will break in 2026 | A migration consultation |
| Stocky Export Converter | You are leaving Stocky before it shuts down | Manual re-entry or a data service |
| Product CSV Checker | You are about to import a product CSV | A CSV validation app |
| Stockout Cost Calculator | You want the real cost of an out-of-stock | A spreadsheet you have to build |
| Days of Stock Calculator | You need to know when to reorder | An inventory planning tool |
| AI Detector | You want product copy that reads human | A paid AI-detection service |
1. Is your store healthy? Run the Shopify Store Audit
The Shopify Store Audit is the general checkup. You paste a store URL and it returns an overall score plus category reads on speed, SEO, mobile, trust and structured data, along with Core Web Vitals from Google's own PageSpeed data and a prioritized list of issues. It detects whether the store is on Shopify, and it flags app bloat, the extra scripts loading from a stack of installed apps that quietly slow a storefront down.
What makes it worth trusting is the honesty built into it. Every finding is labelled as either a measured fact, something it can prove on the page like a missing title tag or a broken link, or a suggestion, a conversion best practice you are free to skip. A suggestion can never outrank a measured problem, so you are not told your store is broken because it lacks a countdown timer. Each issue also comes with why it matters and how to fix it, and the tool tells you plainly when it could not measure something rather than hiding it behind a fake perfect score.
Reach for it when you want a fast second opinion on your own store or a store you are about to work on. The honest limit: a public scan reads the homepage and a sample of links, so deeper page-by-page problems still need a closer look. When it finds conversion gaps it points to the right paid app, usually PopBoost for social proof and urgency or EZBundle for order value.

2. Can ChatGPT recommend your product? Check AI shopping readiness
A growing share of product searches now start inside an AI assistant. ChatGPT Shopping, Google's AI Mode, Perplexity and Gemini all try to recommend specific products, and they pick from what they can read in a page's markup, not from how the page looks to a human. The AI Shopping Readiness Checker looks at a product URL the way those assistants do and scores whether your product can be understood and recommended.
It checks the signals that matter: Product schema with a valid price, currency and availability, a brand, product identifiers like GTIN or SKU, review and rating markup, and whether an AI crawler is even allowed to read the page. When a signal is missing it does not just flag it. It generates the exact Product and Offer schema you can paste in, pre-filled from what it scraped. It also catches a common trap where a store renders its product data with JavaScript, which means a non-JavaScript AI crawler sees nothing, and it tells you that is how you look to those assistants.
Reach for it when you want to be in the answer an AI assistant gives a shopper, not left out of it. The honest limit: it reads what your page exposes to a public fetch, so client-rendered schema will show as missing, which is the point. The natural next step for the conversion side is PopBoost.

3. Will Google suspend your listings? Run the Merchant Center Checker
Free Google listings and Shopping ads run through Google Merchant Center, and Merchant Center suspends accounts for misrepresentation, most often over problems it can see right on a product page. The Google Merchant Center Checker scans a Shopify product URL for the issues that trigger those suspensions, so you can fix them before Google flags them rather than after.
The check that sets it apart is the conflicting-data one. If a product page tells two different stories, a price in the structured data that does not match the price a shopper sees, or a stock status that disagrees with the buy button, Google treats that as misrepresentation, and it is the fastest way to a warning. The tool reads each Product schema block separately, compares the price in the markup against the visible price and the social-share price, and compares stock signals against whether the page has a working buy button. It grades a real conflict as critical and a softer mismatch as a warning, and when a store renders its schema with JavaScript it reports an honest "no readable schema" state rather than a fake perfect score.
Reach for it when you run Shopping ads or free listings, or you got a Merchant Center warning and want to know why. The honest limit: some suspension causes live in your account or feed, not on the page, so a page scan covers the on-page half. On stock and reorder problems it points to EZstock.

4. Is your checkout going to break in 2026? Scan it
Shopify is moving every store to checkout extensibility and turning off the older checkout customizations along the way. The Additional Scripts field that many stores used for tracking is already locked, checkout.liquid is being retired, and stores that never migrated get reverted to the default checkout. The Checkout Deadline Checker scans a storefront for the legacy signals that will not survive that change.
It is built around one honest boundary. It cannot see your actual checkout page, which sits behind the cart and login, so it never claims to. Instead it reads what is public: whether legacy tracking scripts like an inline Meta Pixel, GA or a GTM container are still firing the old way instead of through a migrated Shopify Web Pixel, which is the real cause of the attribution drop stores see after the deadline. It reports that as a tracking score, tells you plainly it is only the part it can see, and hands you a dated admin checklist for the half that lives inside your settings. It handles password-protected and non-Shopify stores by saying so, not by inventing a score.
Reach for it when you are not sure whether your store already migrated, or your ad numbers dropped and you suspect tracking. The honest limit: the authoritative checkout-version signal is in your admin, so the tool pairs the scan with a checklist rather than guessing. Scripts-based discounts move to Shopify Functions, which is where EZBundle and Quizzo already run.

5. Leaving Stocky? Convert your export before it shuts down
Shopify is retiring Stocky, the inventory and purchase-order app, and the data inside it is the hard part to move. To be exact about what is going away: Stocky is a separate app that is being discontinued, and Shopify's built-in inventory tracking is unaffected and keeps working. The problem is that a Stocky purchase-order export, dropped straight into Shopify, only creates a new draft and loses the status, received quantities, supplier and cost that made it useful. The Stocky Export Converter fixes that.
You upload a Stocky export, a CSV or the richer API JSON, and it converts your purchase orders, suppliers, stocktakes and SKU-to-cost data into a clean, Shopify-ready file, and an EZstock-ready file too. Its honesty edge is that when a row is malformed or would be mangled by a spreadsheet, it lists that row instead of silently dropping it, so you can see exactly what came across and what did not. It runs entirely in your browser, so your export never leaves your computer, and it comes with a step-by-step guide for pulling the richer JSON straight from Stocky's API while that API is still alive.
Reach for it when you are migrating off Stocky and want your history, not just your open orders. The honest limit: a few fields like supplier notes and reorder points have no clean home in Shopify, and the tool says so. It leads to EZstock, which is built to import the whole Stocky setup, suppliers, lead times and costs included.
Rescue your Stocky data
Turn a Stocky export into a Shopify-ready and EZstock-ready file, with purchase orders, suppliers, stocktakes and costs intact. Runs in your browser, nothing uploaded.

6. Will your CSV import delete variants? Check it first
A product CSV import into Shopify is close to irreversible, and the worst failure is silent. If a file has a SKU or weight column but is missing the Option Name and Option Value columns, Shopify rebuilds the product with a single default variant and deletes the rest, with no error message. The Product CSV Checker leads with exactly that check, the one Shopify's own documentation warns about, because it is the one that quietly wipes out a catalog.
Beyond the variant-deleting case it catches the other CSV problems that break an import: a SKU mangled into scientific notation by Excel, blank or malformed handles that split one product into several, currency symbols in a price field that resolve to zero, image URLs that are not public, and encoding issues like a UTF-8 byte order mark or stray line endings. It gives a worst-first verdict, tells you the exact row numbers affected, and explains why each one matters and how to fix it. The whole thing runs in your browser, so the file never uploads anywhere, which you can verify in your network tab.
Reach for it when you are about to import or re-import products, especially a large or supplier-provided file. The honest limit: it checks the file's structure, not whether the product data itself is correct for your store. For ongoing inventory and supplier imports it leads to EZstock.

7. What does a stockout really cost you? Add it up
It is easy to think of an out-of-stock as just a missed sale, and to move on. The real bill is larger, because a stockout also loses you the margin you would have earned, sometimes costs you an expedited restock, and pushes some of those shoppers to a competitor they may not come back from. The Stockout Cost Calculator adds all of that into one number so the cost of running thin is something you can actually see.
You enter your daily sales, the length of the stockout, your price and unit cost, and it returns the full picture: lost revenue, lost margin, any expedite cost, an estimate of customers who switch away, and the total summed together. Seeing lost margin and customer switching next to plain lost revenue is what turns "we ran out for a few days" into a figure that justifies a safety-stock buffer or an earlier reorder. It runs entirely in your browser and stores nothing, and if you leave the cost fields blank it simply shows the lost-revenue view, so it is useful even with rough numbers.
Reach for it when you are deciding whether tighter inventory is worth the cash it ties up, or building the case for a reorder buffer. The honest limit: the customer-switching share is an estimate you control, not a measured fact. To stop stockouts happening, it leads to EZstock and its reorder forecasting.

8. How many days of stock are left? Find your reorder date
The most useful inventory number is often the simplest one: how many days of selling you have left before a product runs out. The Days of Stock Calculator takes your current stock and your sales rate and tells you exactly that, then goes one step further and works out the date you need to place a reorder by, given your supplier's lead time.
That second output is the one that changes behavior. Knowing you have 22 days of stock is interesting; knowing you have to place the order by a specific date, because the shipment takes two weeks to arrive, is actionable. The gauge recolors from healthy to soon to critical as the runway shortens, so a glance tells you which products are fine and which need an order today. It is a plain, fast calculator with no signup, and it works for any store because you supply the numbers.
Reach for it when you are doing a quick reorder pass across your bestsellers and want to know what to buy now. The honest limit: it uses the sales rate you give it, so a product with wildly seasonal demand needs your judgment on which rate to enter. For this across a whole catalog automatically, it leads to EZstock.

9. Does your product copy read like AI? Detect it
A lot of product descriptions now get drafted by an AI assistant, and the ones that ship unedited tend to share a flat, generic sound that shoppers and search engines both start to tune out. The AI Detector scores a block of text for how much it reads like typical AI writing, and it does the whole thing inside your browser, including an optional deeper machine-learning pass, so your copy is never sent to a server or a language model.
It gives a 0 to 100 score with an honest confidence band rather than a fake exact percentage, highlights the specific phrases and flat sentences that trip it, and offers a free clean-up that rewrites the most obvious tells, all offline. It is careful about the thing these tools usually get wrong: detection is not proof, non-native English can score high unfairly, and the tool says so rather than accusing anyone. You can paste text or point it at a public URL to pull and score the copy there.
Reach for it when you want product and blog copy that does not sound machine-made before it goes live. The honest limit: no detector is certain, so treat the score as a nudge to edit, not a verdict. For a browser extension that does this everywhere you write, it leads to the free Anti-Slop extension.

Run the AI Detector →What makes a free tool actually worth using
Free is a crowded word, and a lot of tools that carry it are not really free once you try to see the result. The test I hold these nine to is simple, and it is a fair test for any tool you find. Does it show you the answer without an email wall, a signup or a card? Does it keep your data where it belongs, ideally in your own browser, rather than uploading your store's files to a server you do not control? And is it honest about what it cannot do, telling you when a scan came back empty instead of dressing up a blank as a perfect score?
All nine here clear that bar on purpose. Six of them run entirely client-side, so nothing you paste or upload ever leaves your machine. The three that read a live page fetch only the public URL you hand them and store nothing. And every one of them is built to report an honest "could not measure" state rather than fake a result, because a tool that lies to look thorough is worse than no tool. That honesty is the whole point of a free front door: it only works if you trust what it tells you.
Which free tool should you use first?
Pick the one that matches the loudest problem in your store right now. If you are leaving Stocky, the deadline makes that urgent, so start with the Stocky Export Converter and get your data out. If a big product import is coming, run the Product CSV Checker first, because an import that deletes variants is the kind of mistake you cannot easily undo. If you just want a general read, the Shopify Store Audit is the broad checkup, and the AI Shopping Readiness Checker is the one to run if you care about being recommended by AI assistants.
If sales are steady and you are managing inventory, the two calculators are the fast daily wins: the Days of Stock Calculator for what to reorder, and the Stockout Cost Calculator for whether a buffer is worth it. And if you run Shopping ads, the Merchant Center Checker is cheap insurance against a suspension. None of them need each other. Each one stands on its own, and each one is free. If you want the earlier six-tool roundup as well, it is over in the free Shopify tools every merchant should know.
Frequently asked questions
Are these Shopify tools actually free? Yes. All nine run at no cost with no account, no card and no paid tier hiding the result. They do not upgrade you into a subscription to see the answer. They pay for themselves by introducing the paid Shopify apps I build, which is why I can keep them fully free. You can use every one without ever installing an app.
Do I need to sign up or hand over my store data? No signup and no login. Most of the tools run entirely in your browser, so what you paste or upload never leaves your computer. The three that need to read a public page, the store auditor, the AI shopping checker and the Merchant Center checker, fetch the public URL you give them and store nothing. None of them ask for admin access to your store.
Which free tool should a Shopify store use first? Start with whichever problem is loudest. If you are leaving Stocky, use the Stocky Export Converter before the shutdown. If a big import is coming, run the Product CSV Checker first. If you want a general health read, run the Shopify Store Audit. If sales feel slow, the AI Shopping Readiness Checker shows whether AI assistants can even see your products.
Do any of these tools use AI or send my data to an AI model? No. Every tool is rules-based and deterministic. None of them send your text, files or store data to an AI model, so there is no token cost and nothing is generated by a language model. The AI Detector even runs its machine-learning check inside your browser. The word AI in some tool names refers to what they check for, not how they run.
Will these free tools work on any Shopify store? The calculators and file checkers work for any store, since you supply the numbers or the export. The tools that scan a live page work on any public storefront, Shopify or not, though a few checks are Shopify-specific. Password-protected or fully JavaScript-rendered stores limit what a public scan can read, and each tool says so honestly instead of showing a fake perfect score.
How do these free tools relate to your paid Shopify apps? Each tool solves one problem for free, and points to the paid app that solves the ongoing version of it. The Stocky converter leads to EZstock, the checkout and CSV checks lead to EZstock, EZBundle and Quizzo, and the store and AI shopping checks lead to PopBoost and EZBundle. You never have to install anything to use a tool, and the tools are useful on their own.
